Applications for Entry Open for Two Collegiate Beach Events

March 06, 2018, 5:09 p.m. (ET)

Applications for entry into two domestic beach volleyball competitions for male and female collegiate athletes are open.

Teams that medal in these events will join the A1 Collegiate Team, which is designed to support athletes in their transition to the senior program. Last year’s Collegiate Beach Championships women’s gold medalists Sara Hughes and Kelly Claes (USC) are the first pair to hit the international stage directly out of the Beach High Performance pipeline.

Collegiate Beach Championships

The Collegiate Beach Championships return to Hermosa Beach, Calif., May 9-12, 2018, as part of the Team USA Summer Champions Series. The event will feature an all-American showcase of the NCAA’s best women’s pairs, and the men's pairs will also represent their respective universities (the NCAA does not sponsor men's beach volleyball).

Due to the popularity of last year's Collegiate Beach Championships, this year the event will feature a 24-team qualifier and a 32-team main draw tournament. This event serves as the U.S. trials for the FISU World University Championships in Munich, Germany, July 9-13. The United States has been confirmed for two teams per gender at the event. Apply for entry into the Collegiate Beach Championships.

The finals will be televised on NBCSN from 4-6 p.m. ET on May 12.

Collegiate Beach Open

The second USAV Collegiate Beach Open heads to the Chula Vista Elite Athlete Training Center in California, June 20-22. The event will feature the U19 Junior Beach National Team that will travel to China for the FIVB U19 World Championships (June 26-July 1) and the Collegiate Beach National Team that will travel to the FISU World University Championships in Germany. It is also open to international pairs. Apply for entry into the Collegiate Beach Open.
