COLORADO SPRINGS, Colo. – The month of June is packed with junior and professional beach volleyball. This week features a 3-Star FIVB tournament in Russia, while the Junior Beach Tour and Beach High Performance gear up for a busy month.
The professionals are across the globe at the Moscow 3-Star event, while back here in the U.S., the Junior Beach Tour preps for the first weekend of June that features nine tournaments. USAV Beach High Performance continues its zonal programming with four camps and championships this month.
The U.S. has several men's and women's teams at the FIVB Moscow 3-Star event, enough that both the men and women had a country quota match to earn a spot into the qualifications. Emily Day/Brittany Hochevar defeated Lane Carico/Caitlin Ledoux, 21-16, 21-15, to earn a spot in Tuesday's qualification tournament. Stafford Slick/Billy Allen defeated Sean Rosenthal/Trevor Crabb, 21-19, 21-18, for the U.S. men's spot into qualification.
Phil Dalhausser/Nick Lucena received the No. 2 seed in the men's main draw; their first FIVB event since Fort Lauderdale in February. April Ross has teamed with Lauren Fendrick, the duo have the four-seed, marking their first FIVB World Tour event together, outside of the 2015 World Tour Finals. Brooke Sweat/Summer Ross return in their first FIVB event since finishing fourth in the 2017 opener. Back again in the main draw are Kelly Claes/Sara Hughes, who most recently tied for fifth at the Rio 4-Star on May 20.

2017 JUNIOR BEACH TOUR
Nine events will open the month of June in this weekend's Junior Beach Tour lineup. June and the beginning of July mark the final two months of play before the JBT Championships, which will be hosted July 20-25 in Siesta Key, Florida.
The JBT Championships offer championship titles to boys and girls in age groups 12 and under, 14U, 16U and 18U. There are two divisions at the Championships, Open and Club – Club is for all participants to compete in that have not earned a bid on the Junior Beach Tour. BEACH HIGH PERFORMANCE
The Beach High Performance program has a four camps and championships in June. The zonal process continues as the camps and championships will take place in Iowa, California, Georgia and Texas, prior to the July 6-8 collegiate aged championships in Hermosa Beach, and the junior championships, set for July 31-Aug. 2, also in Hermosa.
