COLORADO SPRINGS, Colo. (June 29, 2015) – As part of an exciting summer of international volleyball in the United States, USAV will host the 2015 Men’s Pan American Cup on Aug. 12-17 in Reno, Nev.

Teams from North, Central and South America and the Caribbean, including the United States, will compete in the event, which will be held at the Reno Events Center.

Seven teams besides the U.S. have confirmed participation: Argentina, Brazil, Canada, Cuba, Dominican Republic, Mexico and Puerto Rico.

“We are looking forward to bringing international men’s volleyball back to Reno, where we played World League in 2013,” said U.S. Men’s National Team Head Coach John Speraw. “We really appreciated the hospitality the city showed both to our team and to our visitors.”

“Reno Tahoe is ‘Volleyball CentraI’ in the western United States, and we are delighted to have up to 10 Olympic-quality teams coming to town for this year’s exciting Pan Am Cup,” according to Christopher Baum, president and CEO of the Reno-Sparks Convention and Visitors Authority. “Based on past experience, we’re confident that the crowds will once again enjoy a truly world class competition in downtown Reno.”

The United States has never hosted the event, but has won it five times and finished second twice. Most recently, in 2014, the U.S. team finished second to Cuba.

It is expected that the teams will play four matches a day during pool play at 1, 3, 5 and 7 p.m.
