Women's Roster Set for Pan American Games

COLORADO SPRINGS, Colo. (June 16, 2015) – USA Volleyball has announced its 12-member U.S. Pan American Women’s Volleyball Team that will compete in the Pan American Games that takes place July 16-25 in Toronto, Canada.

U.S. Women’s National Team Head Coach Karch Kiraly and his staff have selected four outside hitters, three middle blockers, two opposites, two setters and one libero for the Pan American Games. The outside hitters include captain Kristin Hildebrand (Orem, Utah), Michelle Bartsch, Cassidy Lichtman (Poway, Calif.) and Krista Vansant (Redlands, Calif.).

Middle blockers selected to the roster are Rachael Adams (Cincinnati, Ohio), Cursty Jackson (Los Angeles) and Lauren Paolini (Ann Arbor, Mich.). The two opposites are Nicole Fawcett (Zanesfield, Ohio) and Falyn Fonoimoana (Hermosa Beach, Calif.), while the setters are Jenna Hagglund (West Chester, Ohio) and Carli Lloyd (Bonsall, Calif.). Natalie Hagglund (Encinitas, Calif.) will serve as the team’s libero.

Dan Fisher will serve as the head coach for the team and will be assisted by Heather Olmstead. The technical coordinator is Jesse Tupac and the team manager is John Xie.

Team USA, ranked No. 1 in the world by FIVB, is grouped in Pool B with world’s second-ranked Brazil, No. 15 Puerto Rico and No. 23 Peru. Pool A consists of No. 6 Dominican Republic, No. 14 Argentina, No. 16, Canada and No. 26 Cuba.

The U.S. opens round robin pool play on July 16 against Peru before facing Puerto Rico on July 18 and Brazil on July 20. Each pool winner advances directly to the semifinals on July 23, while the second- and third-place teams have cross-over quarterfinals on July 22. The medal-round matches will be held July 25.

The 2015 U.S. Pan American Volleyball Team is subject to approval by the United States Olympic Committee.
