COLORADO SPRINGS, Colo. (July 16, 2015) – The U.S. men’s indoor team will begin competition at the Pan American Games on Thursday (July 15) in Toronto.

But wait, you say. Aren’t the U.S. Men competing at the FIVB World League Final Round in Rio de Janeiro?

Yes, the top U.S. Men’s Team is in Rio. And the players competing in Toronto are looking to be a part of the World League team someday.

“These are younger guys that have a future but haven’t had a chance to get into that World League roster or the first roster,” said Charlie Sullivan, U.S. men’s head coach for the Pan American Games, who is also the men’s head coach at Springfield College.

The U.S. last medaled at the Pan American Games in 2007, when it took silver after falling to host Brazil in the final. Overall, the United States has won four gold medals and four silver since the Pan Am Games began in 1955.

The United States will open pool play against Puerto Rico, and then face Mexico (July 19) and host Canada (July 21). The match against Puerto Rico will be shown LIVE on ESPN3.
