Marouane Jafir

Jafir is the co-owner and Club/Technical Director of the Delaware United Volleyball Club, managing all functions and duties of the club. Some of his other responsibilities include training and educating the coaching staff, coordinating schedules and registration for tournaments, and assisting players with the college recruitment process. Since he began working for the club in 2010, 95 percent of players have made and/or have started for their high school teams, 90 percent of middle school players have made their high school teams, and 60 percent of players have been recognized on All-State teams.

In 2011, Jafir accepted the positions of Head Volleyball Coach and Summer Camp Director at Avon Grove (PA) High School and spent two years at the school. At the end of his final season in 2013, the team finished seventh in PA District I (out of 32 teams) with a 16-3 record.

Jafir also had two stints as an assistant coach, first at Gwynedd-Mercy College (2007-09) and then at Wilmington Christian School (2009-10).

Marouane recently completed his first season as an assistant coach with the University of Pennsylvania Women's volleyball program.

Marouane is an experienced volleyball player with over 18 years of combined experience. As a player he was ranked #1 in Morocco and was a champion of Morocco during his nine year tenure with the Tihad Sport Volleyball Club (TSC). His TSC team won the Moroccan Cup (1995-1997 and 1999-2001) and the Moroccan Super Cup (1996, 1998 and 2001). 

"I started playing volleyball for Tihad Sportif Casablanca when I was seven years old,' said Jafir. "I played at the youth, cadet, junior and senior level. I was with Tihad Sportif Casablanca for nine years.'

Marouane is a three-time Moroccan Player of the Year and was a member of the Moroccan National Team from 1997-1999. As a National Team Player in the African Nations Cup with a second place finish among 16 countries, he was awarded the 4th best player honors by the African Federation of Volleyball. Marouane played in the 1997 and 1998 African Nations Cup tournaments, finishing 4th and 3rd place respectively.

Marouane's ability to assess player skills and design technical training programs to increase those skills is a welcome component in advancing players and achieving the best possible outcome.

Jafir is a member of USA Volleyball’s Coaching Accreditation Program Cadre of Instructors (since 2014), is a certified USAV IMPACT Instructor, and is USAV CAP Level III and FIVB Level II certified. Marouane also taught a volleyball class at Temple University. Jafir is fluent in three languages: English, Arabic and French.
