Doug Blystone

Doug became a CAP cadre member in 2012, after completing his CAP III certification. His love of volleyball, thinking outside the box and his desire to challenge the norm of the sport has proven valuable to both the CAP program and his personal coaching.  By coming through the CAP program, Doug has deep and direct understanding from learning and utilizing the materials.  He has also designed several modules for the program such as “Conflict Resolution Strategies,” and “Effects of Positivity and Accountability on Team Dynamics.”

Upon receiving his CAP III certification, Doug began travelling the country as assigned to teach other coaches about the science and art of coaching. Blystone has been an IMPACT instructor with USA Volleyball for the past 10 years and is Beach Impact and Beach CAP Level II certified as of 2016.

Blystone has a pair of master’s degrees, one from Concordia University-Irvine in Coaching and Athletic Administration, and one in Information Science from Widener University.  Doug also holds a bachelor’s degree in Computer Science.

Blystone is still an active outdoor doubles player, most recently finishing 3rd in an “A” level doubles event drawing more than 70 teams.  In 2015, Blystone made it out of pool play in an “AA” level event having more than 25 teams.
