She coached the high school varsity program at the Fountain Valley School, the Pikes Peak Volleyball Club's 16 & 17 national teams, and the 14’s team for the Colorado Crossfire VBC. Prior to coming to USAV, Cole served as the head women's volleyball coach at the University of South Dakota for five seasons, where in 1997 her team enjoyed their best conference finish in the history of the program to that date. Prior to that, Cole served as the head coach at Denver University for one year, during which DU achieved their first DII national ranking and tied for second in the conference. Before taking the reins at DU, and while serving as the assistant coach for the University of Northern Colorado women's volleyball program in Greeley (3 years), she was also the head coach of the UNC men's club team (4 years), and head coach for the Colorado Juniors Volleyball Club 18's team in Greeley. Before making the move into the collegiate coaching world, Cole coached volleyball, basketball, tennis, track and field, and taught physical education and health at Greeley West High School (CO) for two years and at Scott Community High School (KS) for 9 years, where her teams finished second and fourth place, respectively, at the state volleyball tournaments.

She has also instructed for many years at different volleyball camps, including at USD, UNC, Texas Christian University, Air Force Academy, as well as various USAV and NorCo Volleyball Camps in Colorado.  Via a summer volleyball camp business, Cole has toured Colorado, Kansas, Nebraska, Arkansas, Texas and Tennessee to teach middle and high school players and coaches the game.

After playing varsity volleyball, basketball and tennis, and running track for Mitchell High School in Colorado Springs, Cole went on to play four years of varsity volleyball as a setter/outside hitter for the UNC Bears in Greeley, CO. Cole earned both a Bachelor's degree and later a Master's degree in Physical Education (with an emphasis in coaching) from UNC.
