Doug Blystone

Doug Blystone became a CAP cadre member in 2012 after completing his CAP III certification. His love of volleyball, thinking outside the box and his desire to challenge the sport’s norm has proven valuable to both the CAP program and his personal coaching.  By coming through the CAP program, Blystone has deep and direct understanding from learning and implementing the materials and a track record of success.  He has also designed several modules for the program such as “Conflict Resolution Strategies” and “Effects of Positivity and Accountability on Team Dynamics.

Upon receiving his CAP III certification, Blystone began travelling the country to teach other coaches about the science and art of coaching. Blystone has been an IMPACT instructor with USA Volleyball since 2006 and is Beach Impact- and Beach CAP Level II-certified as of 2016.

Blystone has a pair of master’s degrees, one from Concordia University-Irvine in coaching and athletic administration, and one in information science from Widener University.  He also holds a bachelor’s degree in computer science.

He has obtained several certifications with the ISSA, including those in personal training, nutrition, strength and conditioning, and sports nutrition. 
Blystone has coached players from age five towards adulthood and spans levels from beginning players to collegiate athletes. He resides in Hatboro, Pennsylvania, with his wife Danna, children Molly and John, and dog Alex.
