About the USA National Beach Tour-Junior Championships

The 2019 USA National Beach Tour-Junior Championships culminates a series of qualification events that began in December 2018.

The top four pairs in each division from Beach National Qualifiers (BNQ) and a select number of bid winners as part of the Beach Regional Qualifiers (BRQ) earn spots into the national championships event. BNQ winners will earn bids to the National Open Division at the national championships. Designated BRQ events in each region will earn regional division bids to the national championships. You can check out all the bid winners so far on the National Beach Tour website.

The Patriot Division has been established to enable participants who have not earned a bid to compete at nationals.

Girls and boys teams in the 12-and-under and 16U divisions will compete July 18-20. Teams in the 14U and 18U divisions will compete July 21-23. Admission for spectators is free.

About Manhattan Beach

One of beach volleyball’s most historic sites will host one of USA Volleyball’s biggest events in 2019.

Manhattan Beach, Calif., will host the second USA National Beach Tour-Junior Championships July 18-23. The city has annually held the Manhattan Beach Open since 1960, and is generally considered the "home" of beach volleyball. The MB Open is part of the AVP Tour and is the only professional volleyball tournament in which amateurs are able to "place into" the event through qualifying rounds.

Many local residents have participated in the tournament. Winners of the tournament are memorialized with bronze volleyball-shaped plaques in the "Volleyball Walk of Fame" which spans the length of the Manhattan Beach Pier.

“Manhattan Beach has a long history of hosting the best of the best in beach volleyball and that's why we're proud to host the U.S. NBT-Junior Championships in 2019," said Steve Napolitano, mayor of Manhattan Beach. "The Junior Championships represent the next generation of the best in beach volleyball and we look forward to an exciting tournament.”

Last year, the USA National Beach Tour-Junior Championships, held in Siesta Key, Fla., hosted more than 380 boys and girls beach teams.
