USA Divisions*

The USA division is only being offered in the 16-18 age classifications.  In its inaugural season, the USA division’s primary goal will be to help create more manageable field sizes between the Club and USA divisions at the BJNC.  Bid Tournaments are voluntarily running USA divisions to help introduce the division to the BJNC.  After the inaugural season, USAV will review the placement of the bids at the bid tournaments and overall implementation of the USA division.  Aspects that will be monitored will include but are not limited to:

  • which level of team chooses to sign up for the division;
    • is it more regional/local teams than second and third travel teams;
  • if any growth occurs at the bid tournaments;
  • does the division not fill suggesting teams prefer a more competitive first round to the BJNC versus having to choose their level of play early;

These factors will help USAV modify the division for future seasons.  USAV recommends to teams that you pick your playing division at bid tournaments based on your goals for the season.  If you know your team is not an Open caliber team, USA may be the division for you.  However, if you prefer the more advanced level of play at the Open level, you may choose to continue playing in the Open division knowing that the Club division will be an option for nationals.

To compete in an USA division of the BJNC, all teams, including foreign federation teams, must win a bid at a Bid Tournament or be awarded a bid through the USA at-large bid process. (At-Large consideration requirements can be found under the section “USA Division Bids”.)

*This process is under review and will be used for the inaugural year of the USA Division but could be changed for following seasons as deemed appropriate.
