2018 Tom Haine All-Time Great Player (Indoor)

John Brame was a pioneer of the game when international volleyball competitions were in its infancy. He helped the U.S. Men’s National Team win gold at the inaugural Pan American Games in 1955. Domestically, Brame earned seven All-American honors while playing in what is now referred to as the USA Volleyball Open National Championships. He sparked the Hollywood YMCA Stars to four USA Volleyball Open Division championship titles from 1953 to 1958, along with two silver medals during the six-year period. Brame served 40 years in the military between active and reserve duty as a Marine and commander in the U.S. Navy. As part of his work for the Pentagon and White House, his team helped create the all-volunteer draft.
