FitRankings NCC Homepage

The National Challenge Competition (NCC) presented by Amp Human is designed to get triathletes excited about off-season training at the club level. Triathlon Clubs across the country go head-to-head to see who can log the most training miles during the competition. We’re thrilled to partner with FitRankings for this years NCC, making tracking your miles and following the leaderboard even easier.

How to sign up for NCC20

All workouts count toward your swim, bike, run, and overall totals, but one sport will be highlighted each week. The winning club is determined by the greatest average of miles logged by their team members; winning individuals are awarded by greatest total. A team must have a minimum of 5 athletes, each of whom does at least 2 disciplines, to qualify for team awards and an individual must compete in at least 2 disciplines to be eligible for overall awards. Focus on winning a single session or compete for the overall title!

In a new addition this year we’ll also be giving special recognition and awards to the collegiate clubs who put up the biggest numbers with prizes especially for them.

Check the leaderboard regularly, log your miles consistently, and get your team involved; it’s time for NCC20!

The FitRankings leaderboard will show cumulative mileage statistics and will not reflect weekly session totals. Weekly session totals will be tabulated by USA Triathlon

NEW FOR 2020

Competition will begin Jan 2020 using the Fitrankings.com system being used for the Virtual Triathlon. Make sure your club has an up to date roster on their USA Triathlon profile page.

Thank you to Amp Human for being the 2020 presenter for NCC20! With their support we're able to offer even more awards than ever before

In 2020 we are adjusting the schedule to better allow athletes to schedule and vary their training. Instead of 4 week sessions focusing on a single discipline, we'll be doing single week focuses on the disciplines, with 3 sessions of 3 weeks each. See the Schedule below for more details!

In 2020 we are giving special recognition and awards to our collegiate clubs as they prepare for USA Triathlon Collegiate Club Nationals in April

In 2020 competitors do not need to be annual USAT members in order to participate! Any member of your club can participate and receive recognition and awards

Rules & Requirements

  • Each club MUST be a registered club of USA Triathlon and all competitors must be a member of a USA Triathlon Club. If you are not a registered club of USA Triathlon, please visit the USAT website to register.
  • Full Club Rosters must be submitted to Clubs@usatriathlon.org
  • Athletes can only represent one club during the competition.  An athlete will only be able to choose one club to represent during registration.
  • Athletes may begin logging and entering miles on January 15th.
  • During each session, athletes will have a maximum of 2 days to enter their mileage from the day completed.
  • To win the overall individual competition, an athlete must participate in at least two of the three disciplines: swim + bike, swim + run,  or run + bike.
  • A club must have a minimum of 5 athletes participate in at least 2 disciplines to be eligible for club awards.
  • Clubs will need to renew their membership for 2020 in order to have athletes recognized in the competition.
  • Odometers/computers must be used to track all miles for the bike (see only exception in the next bullet point).  Athletes who use a trainer must place their odometer on the back wheel to track their speed and distance. Moderate resistance must be used (5 on a 10 point scale) at a minimum.
  • If an athlete does not have a computer tracking their mileage during a spinning class or stationary bike, USA Triathlon will grant that person 15 miles for each hour on a spin/stationary bike.
  • A swim bench or rowing machine will not count for swimming miles in the competition.
  • Any athlete may be asked to submit to a mileage audit at any point in the competition.  Onus will be on the athlete to verify their mileage during the competition.  Verification can be made by GPS, Coach, training mate, club administrator and/or legal guardian. If an athlete can not verify their mileage, they will be disqualified from the competition for the entire season.  The club representative will be notified of the violation and the athletes miles will be removed from the system.
  • In order to equalize each discipline, we have weighted the other disciplines outside of cycling
    • 1 Swim Mile = 10 Mile
    • 1 Bike Mile = 1 Mile
    • 1 Run Mile = 3 Mile
  • The National Challenge Competition rules are subject to change during the competition.

A note on Safety:

  • Coaches, club administrators and athletes need to be sure that participants are training properly for their age and ability. Youth athletes (7-17 years of age) are eligible to compete as long as they are USA Triathlon members as long as their training is monitored for their age and ability. We do not want an athlete to over train by participating in the competition. It’s the coaches, club administrators and athlete’s responsibility to know the ability levels of the participants and place them in the appropriate training regimen.
