About Chrissy: I’m a triathlete, dietitian, and USAT Level I Certified Coach!  I work primarily at home, running several blogs.  The main site, Snacking in Sneakers, focuses on providing recipes & training tips for active women – specifically runners and triathletes.  I love creating beginner-friendly training plans that help women get to the finish line of their first race.  Triathlon can seem a bit intimidating to those new to the sport, and it’s really my mission to show that every woman can complete one if they put a little time into training (no fancy gear necessary!).

Sport Discipline: Triathlon

Most memorable moment in your multisport career: By far, the most memorable moment was my very first race. I signed up for it on a whim when I was going through a tough time in my life, and knew absolutely nothing about training.

I did my swimming in an apartment pool (what?  I was supposed to practice in open water?).  I didn’t even have a bike, so I borrowed one from a friend (a mountain bike with a warped back tire).  I was too scared to ride on the streets – rocks, gravel, and cars, oh my! – so I would ‘train’ in the Walmart parking lot near my apartment.  I’d go there before it opened and ride around in circles in the parking lot.

I made do.  I didn’t worry about it and I just did what I thought would help me get ready for the race.  And when I crossed that finish line, it was the best feeling ever.  That sense of accomplishment when you cross the finish line for something you’ve trained for; that competitive drive to want to continue and do better – I felt amazing.
