Membership Permit Requirements

By USA Triathlon | Feb. 27, 2014, 4:38 p.m. (ET)

This is the first segment on the rules covering membership.

One must be a member of USA Triathlon in order to compete in any of our sanctioned events. We encourage all athletes to become annual members but do offer a one-day membership for those who just want to give the sport a try! Learn about the benefits of annual membership here.

The requirement of membership is so important that participation without membership could result in the harshest of penalties - suspension from participation for up to a year.

You can check your membership status by logging in at the top of this page.

2.1 Membership Permit Requirements.
All participants in events sanctioned by USA Triathlon must be members of USA Triathlon and be able to present a valid annual membership card or must purchase a USA Triathlon one-day membership. Any athlete who intentionally participates in an event despite lack of membership or ineligibility for the relevant membership class shall be suspended or barred from membership in USA Triathlon and barred from participation in any sanctioned event for a period of up to one year.
