My Story
Every day, I'm thankful for the gift of triathlon
“Why not?” I have uttered that phrase many times when talking with someone about triathlon.
I didn’t know it would be my last ride on two wheels for an entire season.
Balancing professional demands with rigorous training can be challenging, but triathlon has taught me a number of lessons over the years that I now consider fundamental to both my day job and my personal life.
This year, I decided to chase a big dream. It has been a long journey with many moments where I thought, I'm not cut out for this life, but I chose to keep going.
My first triathlon helped this athletically average person achieve, at least for me, epic accomplishments.
Here's the fateful act that began my triathlon journey and how it literally saved my life.
After a severe skiing accident, Wendy Burns-Ardolino saw her triathlon season racing right in front of her. Her goals went from training for her first full IRONMAN to making small steps in her recovery.
At first, I thought my medical condition would ruin my relationship with my favorite sport. However, just the opposite has happened.
“I just decided early on that I could be really depressed about this or I could live my life and make something positive about this crappy situation.”
The new “aging” population also known as seniors, active older adults, and of course if you are into endurance sports, masters or veterans.
