Three Things to Look for in Activewear

By Perspective Fitwear | Nov. 26, 2021, 1 p.m. (ET)

Eco-Friendly

Let's face it: a lot of our clothing ends up in a landfill. This is a big problem, since synthetic fibers commonly found in activewear can take up to 200 years to fully decompose in landfills.

There are many ways activewear companies can incorporate eco-friendly practices. Perspective Fitwear’s Good Human Tech™ fabric takes on this landfill issue by incorporating an innovative accelerated landfill degradable technology. Our pieces fully decompose only in a landfill setting within three years.

Shopping for activewear that incorporates eco-friendly practices or technology is a great way to gift your loved ones while supporting the planet.

UPF 50+ Protection

You’ve heard of sun protection factor or “SPF,” the measurement of a sunscreen’s effectiveness in blocking UV rays. The higher the number, the greater the protection. Fabric sun protection is measured using ultraviolet protection factor, or “UPF.”  There are a few distinctions between these measurements; one is that UPF measures how much ultraviolet radiation (UV Rays) can pass through fabric to your skin, and SPF measures the time it takes for your skin to redden while exposed to UV Rays. A typical cotton t-shirt has a UPF rating of around 5.

When shopping for women who love to move, we encourage you to seek out UPF-rated activewear. That’s why Perspective Fitwear’s Good Human Tech™ fabric is UPF 50+; when we say we “Got Your Back,” we mean that literally.

Versatility

Triathletes may mostly swim, bike, and run, but they also often incorporate cross-training into their programs. Gifting activewear that can be worn in a variety of athletic settings is a great way to ensure your recipient gets the most out of their new gear. For example, highly technical fabric on a gym-casual design can be just as functional on a training run for its sweat-wicking and breathability specs as it is in a yoga session for its relaxed fit and soft fabric.

Perspective Fitwear designs pieces with versatility in mind: the majority of our tops include low-profile pockets on the back that can stash nutrition on a race or hold your phone in the gym. Our contemporary and flattering silhouettes make for perfect wear at both the highest level of performance and the most casual level of movement.
