By Alice Foeller, Beginner Triathlete | Jan. 17, 2018, 7:06 p.m. (ET)

Triathlon for Everyone interviews USA Triathlon Certified Coach Dave Burgess of Podium Training Systems about how to choose the right distance of triathlon. Not all new triathletes choose a sprint as their first race, and it's important to know if you are the kind of athlete who can move up to the next level. We also discuss whether "moving up to the next level" is really the best mindset. We cover the basics of distances, as well as more advanced concepts.

Beginner Triathlete's mission is to promote health and fitness by supporting amateur, age-group triathletes. We feel making triathlon a goal is a great way to make a lifestyle change, stay motivated and improve or maintain fitness. Our website and educational materials provide training plans, reliable expertise, free mentoring, and a training log that allows you to compare your actual training to your triathlon training plan.
