By USA Triathlon | Nov. 05, 2020, 10:38 a.m. (ET)

COLORADO SPRINGS, Colo. — USA Triathlon today unveiled the schedule and speaker lineup for the “Together, We Thrive: Actions for Change” Summit, a free virtual event open to the entire multisport community on Saturday, Nov. 7. Registration is open until the Summit begins; to register, click here. The summit will explore topics related to diversity, equity, inclusion and access (DEIA) in multisport — with a focus on presenting actionable ideas that athletes, club leaders, coaches, race directors and other multisport enthusiasts can implement at the local level to create change.

The Summit is scheduled from 9 a.m.-5:45 p.m. MT (11 a.m.-7:45 p.m. ET). Sessions will highlight experts in various fields of DEIA, as well as individuals and groups in multisport who have successfully implemented actions to promote DEIA in their local communities. Attendees will leave with an expanded knowledge of DEIA terminology, history and challenges, as well as specific opportunities and ideas to carry into their own efforts.

The Summit will cover USA Triathlon’s approach to DEIA, including organizational updates from Rocky Harris, USA Triathlon CEO, and Megan Ritch, USA Triathlon Diversity, Equity, Inclusion and Access and Team USA Manager. Dr. Tekemia Dorsey, CEO of the International Association of Black Triathletes and a member of the USA Triathlon Board of Directors, will discuss women’s NCAA pathways for prospective varsity student-athletes from diverse backgrounds. USA Triathlon staff will also discuss the organization’s Pathways to Leadership program, designed to lift underrepresented voices into leadership and decision-making roles in multisport.

Several panels and Q&As with multisport leaders will cover topics including creating a diverse and inclusive club environment; women in multisport; LGBTQIA+ allyship; and paratriathlon engagement and inclusion. Additionally, USA Triathlon corporate partners TrainingPeaks and Wahoo Fitness will present strategies for brands to support, connect with and bring value to diverse audiences.

Moderating the summit is Michanda Mylesa creative strategist, avid triathlete and endurance sports announcer with an entrepreneurial and nonprofit background. Myles has a proven track record of creating and implementing effective programs and campaigns while championing positive organizational growth.

The “Together, We Thrive: Actions for Change” Summit is free and open to all members of the multisport community. A USA Triathlon membership is not required to attend. To register today, click here.
