Collegiate Club and High School Triathletes Celebrate Nationals from Home

By Nick Hehemann, USA Triathlon | April 07, 2020, 5:03 p.m. (ET)

Collegiate and high school triathletes from around the country were supposed to compete in Tempe, Arizona, this past weekend at the USA Triathlon Collegiate Club and High School National Championships (CCNC).

USA Triathlon was forced to postpone the event due to the ongoing situation with the coronavirus pandemic, but that didn’t stop many of the athletes celebrating the event as best they could — from home.

On social media, we asked athletes to rep their club or school and show us how they were swimming, biking and running — or whatever other quarantine-competitions they could come up with — while social distancing. We called the campaign #CCNCFromHome, partnering with our friends at KT Tape to offer prizes to those athletes and teams who could send us the most creative photos or videos of their solo outdoor or at-home workouts.

The responses we received were tremendous. We did our best to narrow down the field to select the winners of our KT Tape giveaway, while also showing some love to the honorable mentions. You can find all of these submissions below.

Full video link in bio. Today was supposed to be collegiate nationals. I put my heart into this so hard for my "final year". After all those surgeries, all the rehab, I finally found myself finding form again. The last three weeks have been hectic but yesterday I decided I was going to do a "all-out" super sprint effort to find out what I can do right now. I ended up holding 438 Watts for 6.5 Minutes (Just over 3 miles) and ran a Mile in 4:48 off the bike. To all my collegiate friends, it sucks not seeing y'all this week. Stay safe, and I hope to see y'all if @usatriathlon reschedules it! They made the right decision. If you #SendIT today upload a video even if it’s inside your home. #CCNCFromHome

Despite everything going on in the world, we can still focus on little things to help us move forward everyday. For me, that's riding my bike, running and doing my PT exercises. Since USAT collegiate nationals was supposed to be these past couple of days, I decided to race all 5 stages of the Tour of Wattopia, using the bit of fitness I had been building up to this point for something. I had a lot of fun doing it, even though it was essentially 5 glorified FTP tests in 3 weeks 😝 Stay happy, healthy, and 6 feet apart! And as always, Happy training! PS I rarely ask this, but please share my video if you can or save it to your collection! I'm doing a mini-study of the famous Instagram algorithm 😆 #1rpm #revolution #CCNCFromHome #socialdistancing #stayhome #zwiftracing #womenonbikes #HowWeLiv #StingorBeeStung #nuunlife #INDOORridechallenge #rideshimano #indoor #anywhereispossible #bikesarentcancelled @angelanaeth @usatriathlon
