Why Elites, Age Groupers and Beginners Alike are Loving the Virtual Triathlon

By Nick Hehemann, USA Triathlon | Nov. 20, 2019, 11:48 a.m. (ET)

Just over halfway through the month-long online challenge, nearly 4,000 athletes from around the country have already signed up to participate in the world’s first Time to Tri Virtual Triathlon.

The free event — which launched on Nov. 1 and runs through Dec. 1 — provides an unprecedented opportunity for experienced and beginner triathletes alike to complete swim, bike and run distances at their own convenience.

Offering both a Sprint- and Olympic-distance format, athletes can upload their workouts online using any of a number of compatible devices. Athletes have the ability to complete the three disciplines indoors or outdoors, at any time of day, anywhere in the world.

Participants can complete all three disciplines on the same day, or complete one discipline at a time over the course of several days or even weeks.

These are just some of the athletes — elites, age groupers and beginners alike — who have already participated in our Time to Tri Virtual Triathlon and are loving the challenge. Join them and experience all the fun at virtual-tri.com!

This week has been spent getting back into moving my body and getting reacquainted with triathlon. As some extra motivation to do this I signed up for the @usatriathlon Virtual Tri. I love the freedom and flexibility of it. I get to choose when I do each discipline, what my venue will be, the order of events, and if I need a break, I take one. It’s the perfect way to get back into my triathlon frame of mind. I love that it suits all people, of all abilities and lifestyles. It can be done with friends or as a solo mission. Draft legal or non draft. It’s fun to mix things! As of today I’ve completed my sprint triathlon that I initially signed up for to get back into things, but I think I might just sign up for the Olympic to keep the ball rolling! Go to teamusa.org/USA-Triathlon/Virtual-Triathlon to sign up today! You have until December 1 to complete your triathlon and be entered to win some great prizes πŸ‘πŸ» πŸ“Έ: @wags.photo
