COLORADO SPRINGS, Colo. — USA Triathlon and Triathlon Business International (TBI) today announced Endurance Exchange, an annual industry-wide triathlon conference, to be held in Jan. 23-25, 2020, in Tempe, Arizona. The inaugural event combines several pre-existing industry conferences into one, providing learning and networking opportunities for coaches, race directors, officials, clubs, brands and manufacturers, media outlets and marketing entities, athletes and the multisport community as a whole.
Registration is open at enduranceexchange.com, and early bird pricing is available now for $350 per person. A complete schedule, speaker line-up and additional event details will be announced in the coming months and will be housed at enduranceexchange.com.
Endurance Exchange replaces the TBI Annual Conference, which was initially scheduled in Tempe for the same dates. It also comprises two former USA Triathlon-hosted industry events, the USA Triathlon Race Director Summit and the Art and Science of Triathlon International Coaching Symposium.
USA Triathlon and TBI will launch the event in an effort to grow, inspire and support the triathlon community by collaboratively hosting the nation’s largest experiential triathlon summit where everyone within the multisport community can learn; share best practices, trends and innovations; network; and celebrate.
“At USA Triathlon we heard from our constituents that it was challenging to manage several conferences on the calendar each year, and we realized it was time to think bigger-picture,” said Rocky Harris, USA Triathlon CEO. “More importantly, we recognize the value in coming together with TBI to create a collaborative environment for all industry members — enabling coaches, retailers, corporations, race directors, clubs, officials and athletes to learn from each other and share best practices.”
“Triathlon is routinely the trendsetter in the endurance community, and Endurance Exchange is our industry’s answer to the Balkanization that has led to the demise of events like Interbike,” said Dan Empfield, President of Triathlon Business International. ”Endurance Exchange will be triathlon’s annual rendezvous, and I suspect it may become that for our three constituent activities as well. I’ve been hoping for this for years, and I’m excited we’re finally here.”
The conference will feature a dynamic lineup of expert presenters from across the multisport industry, as well as interactive roundtable sessions and networking events. Race directors, coaches and officials will gain Continuing Education Units (CEUs) to further their professional development and will have the opportunity to earn their USA Triathlon certifications or recertifications onsite.
In addition, Endurance Exchange will feature ancillary activities outside of the conference room setting — including hands-on technical training, racing opportunities, USA Triathlon Foundation events and meet-and-greets with elite athletes and Olympic hopefuls.

What others are saying about Endurance Exchange:
Dan Ashworth | President, Ashworth Awards
“On behalf of Ashworth Awards, an official partner of both TBI and USA Triathlon, I think that combining the TBI Annual Conference and USA Triathlon conferences into one annual event is a great idea. This will allow suppliers, partners, race directors, coaches and other individuals or companies involved in multisport the opportunity to attend a single conference instead of two or three, which has been hard to manage in the past. Having a single event should also increase attendance and allow for better collaboration between event directors, partners, sponsors and others. It is good for the overall sport. We look forward to seeing all of our partners and customers at the new Endurance Exchange conference in January.”
Toby Green | Vice President – Business Development, ACTIVE Network
“As an official partner of both TBI and USA Triathlon, ACTIVE Network is thrilled to see the combination of two of the top multisport resources for race directors, coaches and athletes all under one roof. This will provide an exciting opportunity for collaboration and idea sharing in the sports and event management community. ACTIVE remains committed to providing technology-enabled, software-driven solutions that connect people to the things they love, want and need to do. Making the world a more active place is not only our mission, it’s our way of life.”
Peter Hurley | CEO, American Bicycle Group
"The Triathlon Business International conferences have allowed me to network with members of our industry that have proved to be valuable in both my career and in my personal life. I’m looking forward to seeing and being a part of the growth Endurance Exchange produces in the world of triathlon and the endurance industry.”
Christy Lausch | Founder and Head Coach, Mini Cow Tri/MC Elite
“As a coach and team leader, I’m excited about Endurance Exchange and the consolidation of industry thought-leaders into one keynote conference. The format of the conference provides a unique and innovative opportunity to expand on both foundational and targeted topics, network with peers and come away with meaningful and tactical learnings that can make an immediate impact on the athletes we support.”
Rachel Martin | Founder and CEO, Forward Motion Events
“Continuing education and collaboration are vital to the growth of our businesses. As a race director who previously attended both TBI and the USA Triathlon Race Director Summit, I am thrilled to have a combined event where people don't have to decide which conference to travel to. We will be able to get more done in less time while learning from experts and collaborating across the multisport industry.”
Andrew Messick | President and Chief Executive Officer, IRONMAN
“It’s encouraging to see triathlon’s continued movement toward greater collaboration among key participants. On behalf of IRONMAN, we look forward to Endurance Exchange and supporting the positive impact it should have on triathlon.”
Lance Panigutti | Owner, Without Limits Productions
"For years, the triathlon community — and really, the endurance community at large — has been fragmented. Which event to attend? The TBI Annual Conference, USA Triathlon Race Director Summit, or the coaches’ symposium? This isn't just a question that race directors were contemplating, but coaches, athletes, industry brands and governing body representatives. Endurance Exchange finally recognizes a long overdue need to stop the divide. Finally, we can all learn from each other and move the sport out into the public eye with one collaborative vision. I, along with my entire staff, look forward to attending for many years to come."
Andy Potts | IRONMAN 70.3 World Champion, 2004 U.S. Olympian
“It is an exciting time to be an endurance athlete. Three events; TBI, the Art and Science of Triathlon International Coaching Symposium and the USA Triathlon Race Director Summit have been combined into one experience. This will allow the most disparate voices to contribute to our future. Having different and strong voices leading the way for all athletes, beginner to professional, will strengthen our foundation as well as provide direction for new initiatives. The sport of triathlon is growing globally, and this event will help us take advantage of the opportunities that are in front of us."
