COLORADO SPRINGS, Colo. — The USA Triathlon Foundation today announced that it is accepting grant applications from the triathlon community for 2018. Individuals and organizations who wish to apply for a USA Triathlon Foundation grant may do so at usatriathlonfoundation.org. All proposals are due by March 12, and the USA Triathlon Foundation Trustees will make selections by April 2.

The USA Triathlon Foundation awards funding to organizations that bolster multisport opportunities for youth, paratriathletes and Olympic hopefuls. Last year, a total of $86,000 in grant funding was awarded to 25 different organizations supporting a variety of initiatives, all of which reflect the foundation’s mission of opening pathways to triathlon for all. “Each year, the USA Triathlon Foundation looks forward to supporting incredible organizations that transform lives through triathlon,” said John Cassimatis, Vice President of the USA Triathlon Foundation Board of Trustees and Grant Chair. “We have been able to award more than $240,000 over the past three years to benefit youth, paratriathletes and Olympic hopefuls thanks to our generous donors, and we are proud to continue that tradition in 2018.”

“This is a tremendous opportunity for organizations to receive financial assistance for their efforts to make a difference in the lives of others — particularly underserved populations,” said Jacqueline McCook, President of the USA Triathlon Foundation Board of Trustees. “We want to thank and recognize the volunteers throughout the U.S. who dedicate their time and talent to expanding access to the amazing sport of triathlon."

About the USA Triathlon Foundation
The USA Triathlon Foundation was created in 2014 by the USA Triathlon Board of Directors as a separate tax-exempt 501(c)(3) entity. Under the leadership of its Trustees and Committee members, the Foundation serves as a means to create a healthier America through triathlon, and seeks to transform lives by opening up new pathways to the sport for all, especially those who are otherwise underserved. The USA Triathlon Foundation operates with the belief that every child should have the chance to participate, every paratriathlete should have the opportunity to compete, and every aspiring elite athlete should be able to chase his or her Olympic dream. Donations to the USA Triathlon Foundation ensure America's youth are introduced to the benefits and fun of a multisport lifestyle, athletes with disabilities receive the training, support and gear to be able to participate and excel, and the best aspiring young athletes have a chance to pursue their Olympic Dreams.
