COLORADO SPRINGS, Colo. — USA Triathlon today announced that age-group athletes can now receive credit for the cost of up to three one-day memberships to put toward upgrading to a USA Triathlon annual membership. Races for the one-day memberships must have occurred within the past year. Previously only a single one-day membership could be used each year toward the purchase of an annual membership.
Annual memberships are $50, and one-day memberships are $15 each. Either membership is required for athletes to compete in USA Triathlon-sanctioned events. The new policy allows athletes to apply up to $45 in one-day member fees toward the cost of an annual membership.
“By crediting up to three one-day memberships, we encourage athletes who typically race just a few times per year to take the next step and become USA Triathlon Annual Members,” said Rocky Harris, USA Triathlon CEO. “This new inclusive approach lowers the barrier of entry into the multisport lifestyle while advancing USA Triathlon’s goal of increased engagement and participation.”
The new pricing structure applies to adult age-group athletes only, and is not applicable to youth or elite memberships. USA Triathlon annual membership is offered on a 12-month rolling basis, versus a calendar year.
USA Triathlon Annual Memberships come with a host of benefits, led by the opportunity to be part of a vibrant, national community over 400,000 strong. Membership fees also help to instill healthy, active lifestyles across the nation by supporting programs for youth, paratriathletes and Olympic hopefuls, and by training and supporting USA Triathlon-certified coaches, race directors and officials.
Only annual members are eligible to compete in USA Triathlon’s four owned National Championships: Collegiate Club & High School, Duathlon, Youth & Junior and Age Group (sprint and Olympic-distance). Members are included in the USA Triathlon National Rankings with the chance to earn All-American Honors, and are eligible to compete for a spot on Team USA for the ITU Age Group World Championships.
Members also receive valuable training and racing resources, including one-year subscriptions to the quarterly USA Triathlon Magazine and the weekly e-newsletter, Multisport Zone, as well as exclusive discounts on gear and services from industry-leading USA Triathlon partners. All one-day membership credits must be applied at the time of annual membership purchase, as refunds will not be issued. To receive a credit, athletes must email an application to firstname.lastname@example.org along with proof of the one-day purchases. If you do not have proof of a one-day purchase, please provide the name, date, and location of the event – USA Triathlon will check its records or attempt to follow-up with the event director as needed.
