U.S. Athletes Capture 23 Medals at CAMTRI Championships

SARASOTA, Fla. — American athletes won 23 medals Saturday and Sunday at the Sarasota CAMTRI Sprint Triathlon American Championships in Nathan Benderson Park.

Sarah True (Hanover, N.H.) and Taylor Knibb (Washington, D.C.) placed second and third in the elite women’s race behind Canada’s Joanna Brown while Eli Hemming (Kiowa, Colo.), grabbed silver in the elite men’s event behind Rodrigo Gonzalez of Mexico.

U.S. paratriathletes won the women’s PTHC — Mary Catherine Callahan (La Grange, Ill.), PTS2 — Allysa Seely (Glendale, Ariz.), PTS4 — Patricia Collins (Alexandria, Va.), PTS5 — Grace Norman (Jamestown, Ohio) and PTVI — Elizabeth Baker (Signal Mountain, Tenn.) sport classes while the American men were victorious in PTS2 — Mark Barr (Houston, Texas), PTS3 — Brian Norberg (Des Moines, Iowa), PTS4 — Jamie Brown (Carlsbad, Calif.), PTS5 — Chris Hammer (Salt Lake City, Utah) and PTVI — Aaron Scheidies (Seattle, Wash.).

The U.S. mixed team relay squad of Taylor Spivey (Redondo Beach, Calif.), Hemming, Erin Dolan (Bentonville, Ark.) and Jason West (State College, Pa.) finished second to Canada.

In the junior races, Darr Smith (Atlanta, Ga.) topped the podium for the men.
