COLORADO SPRINGS, Colo. — Paralympic champion Grace Norman has been nominated for the Team USA Awards Presented By Dow, Best of the Games by U.S. Paralympics for outstanding achievements at the Rio 2016 Paralympic Games.
Norman (Jamestown, Ohio) is one of five female nominees, and votes may be cast for the Best of the Games honors at teamusa.org/awards. Voting for the Team USA Awards ends at 5 p.m. ET on Sept. 23.
Norman became the first woman to win paratriathlon gold as the sport made its Paralympic debut in Rio. Norman won by more than a minute over her closest competitor. Less than 36 hours after her paratriathlon win, Norman also won bronze on the track in the women's T44 400-meter.
In addition to Norman, other nominees for the Female Athlete of the Paralympic Games Presented by Dick’s Sporting Goods are Tatyana McFadden, track and field; Becca Meyers, swimming; Shawn Morelli, cycling; and Becca Murray, wheelchair basketball.
The six award winners will be announced during the Team USA Awards which will take place at 7 p.m. on Wednesday, Sept. 28 at Georgetown University’s McDonough Arena in Washington, D.C. More than 600 members of the 2016 U.S. Olympic and Paralympic teams are expected to attend the ceremony, which will honor the awe-inspiring, outstanding U.S. performances from the Rio 2016 Games, and will air Oct. 4 on NBC Sports Network from 10-11 p.m. ET.
