When Grace Norman isn’t racing or being a typical teenager, she’s training show pigs that she presents at the county fair. But free time is limited these days as Norman spends most of her time swimming, biking or running in pursuit of Paralympic gold. Training as an elite athlete while having a normal high school experience has its challenges. Norman has her routine down pat with school for seven hours and training anywhere from two to five hours in the afternoon before homework, dinner and sleep. “There is no sense in training hard and competing if you don’t love it,” Norman says. “If your heart and passion are in the sport, then you will enjoy [it] and be able to make the most out of every opportunity.”
