American Sarah Groff won the women’s title with a time of 32 minutes and 52 seconds. Mexican Sergio Sarmiento delighted the home crowds by taking the men’s crown with a time of 29 minutes and 54 seconds, the only competitor last year to break the 30-minute barrier.

Former Aquathlon World Champions include Americans Sara McLarty (2006) and Sheila Taormina (2004 Triathlon World Champion and Olympian) and Tim Don (2006 Triathlon World Champion and two-time Olympian) of Great Britain.
