Relay Team Registration

Relay teams must be two males and two females. Each person pays their own registration fee. One person on the team should be designated as the captain and be the first to register. Upon starting registration for the Mixed Relay registration type, there is an option at the top to join or create a team. The captain must click 'Create a Team,' type in the team name, click 'Create Team,' then proceed with registration. 

The other three team members will start the Mixed Relay registration and click 'Join a Team,' then select the appropriate team and proceed with registration.

Important Registration Information

  • There is no transfer or deferment of entries from one year to the next
  • There are no refunds
  • Athletes MUST be annual USA Triathlon members to race. There are no one-day memberships sold for this event.
  • Athletes MUST be 15 years of age by Dec. 31, 2022 to compete in sprint-distance races and 17 years of age to compete Olympic/Standard-distance races, no exceptions.
  • Registration closes when the event is sold out or by Monday, April 25, 2022 at 11:59 p.m. CT.

Transfers to a higher-priced race at the same event are acceptable, but will require paying the price difference. Transfers to lower-priced races at the same event are acceptable, but will not receive a refund. Email nationalevents@usatriathlon.org to request the transfer.

To be eligible for awards you must:

  • Be a U.S. citizen.
  • Be a U.S. national - someone who has resided in the U.S. for three years.

Eligible Age Groups and Awards

Participants have the opportunity to qualify for the 2023 World Triathlon Championships through the 2022 Toyota USA Triathlon Age Group National Championships. It is the policy of USA Triathlon to provide awards only for those age groups which qualify for this level of competition. For Olympic/Standard-Distance (Olympic) events, age groups will begin with 17-19 and continue in 5-year increments through 85-89. For sprint-distance events, age groups will begin with 15-19 and continue in 5-year increments through 85-89 The minimum ages to compete are based on the World Triathlon Competition Rules (appendix A, page 75). 

  • For Olympic/Standard-distance events, athletes must be 17 by December 31st, 2022.
  • For sprint-distance events, athletes must be 15 by December 31st, 2022.
  • For the 2023 World Triathlon Standard/Olympic-distance events, athletes must be 18 by December 31st, 2023.
  • For the 2023 World Triathlon Sprint-distance events, athletes must be 16 by December 31st, 2023.

Event Cancellation and Modification Policy

In the event of extreme weather, natural disaster, community disaster or other unforeseen emergencies, our action steps will be as follows:

  • USA Triathlon, in concert with local officials, will make the final decision based on safety of the athletes, spectators, vendors, volunteers and others affiliated with the event.
  • USAT may, based on the conditions of the course, shorten the distances or cancel the event altogether.
  • Because costs of the event have already been paid out to cover various levels of production expenses, there will be NO REFUNDS, transferred entry fees or future complimentary entry fees.

What does event registration protection (also called ticket protection) cover?

Can I cancel my event registration protection (also called ticket protection) that I paid for through registration?

You may cancel your ticket protection within 72 hours after purchase. Please refer to the link in the bottom of the FanShield confirmation email you received after completing your event registration for details or reach out to help@fanshield.com for assistance.

Can I add event registration protection (also called ticket protection) to my event registration after I’ve completed registration for the event? 

USA Triathlon is offering a limited-time offer available through December 31, 2021 for athletes to add event registration protection to their event registration for those athletes who have already registered for 2022 USA Triathlon owned and operated events and were not offered event registration protection during the initial registration process.

How do I file a claim for my event registration protection (also called ticket protection)?

To file a claim, use the button on the FanShield confirmation email or simply navigate to http://claims.fanshield.insure and follow the instructions.  

How long does it take to file a claim for event registration protection (also called ticket protection)?

The claims process could take as little as one day if filed promptly and correctly. Though typically, a claim cycle is completed within two business days from submission. Please note that the timing does vary depending on the customer's response time to communications sent from the claims team.  

How long do I have to file a claim for my event registration protection (also called ticket protection)?

A FanShield policyholder has up to 30 days from the date of the event to file a claim.*
