2020 Collegiate Club & High School National Championships Postponed

The 2020 Collegiate Club, High School, and Duathlon National Championships, all of which were initially set for this spring but were postponed due to the COVID-pandemic, have been rescheduled for Oct. 16-17 in Lake Havasu City, Arizona, as part of the Havasu Triathlon co-hosted by race production companies Tucson Racing and 3 Disciplines (3D) Racing. The rescheduled Collegiate Club & High School National Championships will feature all of its traditional events, including the collegiate draft-legal sprint, non-drafting Olympic-distance and mixed relay races, as well as the non-drafting sprint race for high school athletes. All team and individual scoring will remain the same. The Havasu Triathlon has a rich history of hosting national triathlon events. It was the site of the triathlon trials for the 1999 Pan American Games, as well as the 2004 and 2005 USA Triathlon Collegiate National Championships. In addition, the race — which is typically held in the spring but was postponed this year due to COVID-19 — has served as the Mountain Collegiate Triathlon Conference Championships for the last eight years.

Athletes who were previously registered for Collegiate Club Nationals, High School Nationals or Duathlon Nationals have a variety of deferral options, including transferring their registration to the 2020 rescheduled event in Lake Havasu, 2020 Youth and Junior Nationals (pending age requirements), the 2021 Collegiate Club (pending eligibility) or Duathlon National Championships, or another USA Triathlon-owned event in 2021 or 2022 — including Collegiate Club Nationals (pending eligibility), Youth and Junior Nationals (pending age requirements), Duathlon Nationals, Toyota Age Group Nationals (pending qualification) or the Legacy Triathlon. Visit the registration page for further details.

Continual updates and additional resources from USA Triathlon regarding COVID-19 available through the Safe Return to Multisport Initiative. Athletes are encouraged to review Return to Racing Recommendations and Training Plans recently compiled by USA Triathlon. USA Triathlon continues to monitor the situation surrounding COVID-19, while following the guidance of local authorities, the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC) and the World Health Organization (WHO), when making decisions regarding the status of USA Triathlon events and programs. Any further potential changes to USA Triathlon’s National Championships event calendar will be communicated immediately.

In addition, USA Triathlon remains in regular contact with the International Olympic Committee (IOC) and U.S. Olympic & Paralympic Committee (USOPC) regarding the impact of COVID-19 on the national and global sports landscape. Any further potential changes to USA Triathlon’s National Championships event calendar will be communicated immediately.
