Please read the below information before registering.

Important Registration Information

  • There is no qualification required to participate in this event. Registration is open to every body.
  • There is no transfer or deferment of entries from one year to the next.
  • There are no refunds.
  • Elites athletes are allowed to race in any distance at Duathlon Nationals. However, they will be assigned to their respective Age Group and will not be eligible for age group or overall awards or Team USA qualification. All Elites will also race under standard age group rules.
  • Athletes MUST be 17 years of age by Dec. 31, 2019 to compete in Standard-Distance.
  • Athletes MUST be 15 years of age by Dec. 31, 2019 to compete in Sprint-Distance (for both draft-legal and non-drafting races).
  • Registration closes when the event is sold out or until Wednesday, April 10th at 11:59 p.m. MST.

*USA Triathlon reserves the right to modify maximum race registration numbers.*

To be eligible for awards and Team USA qualification you must:

  • Be a U.S. citizen.
  • Be a U.S. national - someone who has resided in the U.S. for three years.

Eligible Age Groups and Awards

Participants have the opportunity to qualify for the 2020 ITU Duathlon World Championships through the 2019 USA Triathlon Duathlon National Championships. It is the policy of USA Triathlon to provide awards only for those age groups which qualify for this level of competition. For Sprint-Distance, age groups will begin with 15-19 and continue in 5-year increments through 80-84. For Standard-Distance, age groups will begin with 17-19 and continue in 5-year increments through 80-84. The minimum ages to compete are based on the ITU Competition Rules (appendix A, page 75). 

  • For the 2019 USAT Sprint-Distance Duathlon National Championship, athletes must be 15 by December 31st, 2019.
  • For the 2020 ITU Sprint-Distance Duathlon World Championship, athletes must be 16 by December 31st, 2020.
  • For the 2019 USAT Standard-Distance Duathlon National Championship, athletes must be 17 by December 31st, 2019.
  • For the 2020 ITU Standard-Distance Duathlon World Championship, athletes must be 18 by December 31st, 2020.

Family Fun Run

Families! Grab your kids and sign up for the Family Fun Run! At the completion of the Draft-Legal Sprint Duathlon National Championship on Saturday, April 13, USA Triathlon will host a family fun run at 12:30 p.m. at Lakeside Park. The family fun run is open to all children and adults. Families are welcome to run together and finish on the Duathlon Nationals finish line! All participants must register through the link at the top of this page and sign the USAT waiver during registration. The cost is $5 for children and $5 for adults. All participants have the option of a half-mile or one-mile course and will receive a race bib and ribbon upon finishing.

Event Cancellation and Modification Policy

In the event of extreme weather, natural disaster, community disaster or other unforeseen emergencies, our action steps will be as follows:
  • USA Triathlon, in concert with local officials, will make the final decision based on safety of the athletes, spectators, vendors, volunteers and others affiliated with the event. 
  • USA Triathlon may, based on the conditions of the course, shorten the distances or cancel the event altogether.  
  • Because costs of the event have already been paid out to cover various levels of production expenses, there will be NO REFUNDS, transferred entry fees or future complimentary entry fees.
