Please note: The ITU Multisport Festival is formerly referred to as the ITU World Championships. The Festival includes world championships for several different disciplines. Click here for more information.

Standard-Distance:

All of the standard slots will be allocated at the USA Triathlon Duathlon National Championships in Greenville on April 8, 2018. The ITU Multisport Festival in the standard/Olympic-distance will NOT be draft-legal.

The 2018 USA Triathlon Duathlon National Championships in Greenville, S.C. will qualify athletes for the Standard-Distance Duathlon at the 2019 ITU Multisport Festival in Pontevedra, Spain. At the Duathlon National Championships, the top 18 in each age group, rolling down to 25th place after applying the age-up rule, will qualify for the World Championships.

Athletes must be present at the awards ceremony to accept their slot. Failure to accept your slot at the ceremony will result in a forfeiture of your slot.

The top 20 athletes per age group in the USA Triathlon annual rankings as of 12/31 will qualify for the standard-distance world championship. The top 2 are offered a spot rolling down to 20th.

Note: All spots offered via the rankings system are subject to spots being available on the roster.

Sprint-Distance:

Both races in Greenville qualify for the Draft-Legal Sprint Duathlon at the 2019 ITU Multisport Festival in Pontevedra, Spain.

Qualification through the Non-Drafting race:

For 2019 ITU Multisport Festival qualification, USA Triathlon will allot eight (8) spots for women and eight (8) spots for men in each age group (after the age up rule is applied) at the USA Triathlon Non-Drafting Duathlon National Championship on Sunday, April 8, in Greenville, S.C. No pass down spots will be granted from this event.

Qualification through the Draft-Legal race:

For 2019 ITU Multisport Festival qualification, USA Triathlon will allot ten (10) spots for women and ten (10)  spots for men in each age group (after the age up rule is applied) at the USA Triathlon Draft-Legal Duathlon National Championship to be held Saturday, April 7, in Greenville S.C. Pass downs to spot 25 will be granted from this event.

Athletes must claim their spot at their respective event’s awards ceremony.

Failure to accept your slot at the awards ceremony will result in a forfeiture of your spot. However, if you qualify in the non-draft event and compete in the draft-legal event, you do not need to claim your spot a second time (note that you must claim your spot in the first event that you qualify for should you qualify on both days). Athletes placing outside of the top 10 will be emailed post-event if they have received a spot.

The top 20 athletes per age group in the USA Triathlon annual rankings as of 12/31 will qualify for the sprint-distance world championship. The top 2 are offered a spot rolling down to 20th.
