Awards
Awards at the Legacy Triathlon, Open Water Swim, and Paratriathlon National Championships will be offered in the following categories:
- Legacy Tri Sprint: three deep in five-year male and female age groups age groups, beginning with ages 15-19, 20-24, etc. through the oldest age group. A non-binary wave is also included. Clydesdale and Athena awards will also be provided for Clydesdales and Athenas 39 and under, Clydesdales 40-59 and 60+, Athenas 40-54 and 55+.
- Open Water Swim Competitions: top place male and females: overall, 15-39, 40-59, 60+, non-binary
- Paratriathlon National Championships: three deep in each male and female category: PTWC, PTS2, PTS3, PTS4, PTS5, PTVI

Rosalind Jarrett Sepulveda![]()
A nine-time member of Team USA, the 2008 Aquathlon World Champion, 2011 Xterra Southern California Trail Run Series Regional Champion, and 2015 USA Triathlon Duathlon National Champion in her age group, Rosalind Jarrett Sepulveda is living proof that a love of multisport can start at any age. Sixteen years ago, after receiving news that her health was declining, the then 54-year old competed in her first triathlon, encouraged by the support and camaraderie of the Los Angeles Triathlon Club. Passion for a new sport was ignited, and within two years Jarrett was named LA Tri Club’s Volunteer of the Year, and within four years she had qualified for her first World Championship. Her health is now better-than-ever, and her passion for swim, bike, and run continually grows. She has now become a frequent fixture atop local podiums, with a goal of conquering the courses at the Legacy Triathlon.

Check-In Process
USA Triathlon has a new digital check-in process for packet pickup. Once you enter the packet pick-up area you will go directly to the iPad check-in station. With your last name, you will be able to retrieve your bib number(s). Please be sure to take note of your bib number(s) before hitting the check-in button on the iPad. As always, you will still need to present your driver's license/photo ID to the volunteer to pick up your packet.
Clydesdale and Athena Divisions
Clydesdale and Athena athletes will have the opportunity to compete for age group awards in Clydesdale and Athena-specific divisions! Clydesdales (males) must be 220 pounds or greater on race day. Athenas (females) must be 165 pounds or greater on race day. Clydesdale and Athena athletes will start the race with their respective five-year age group wave.
If you wish to register as a Clydesdale or Athena athlete, select Yes for that question in registration. Anybody identifying as a Clydesdale or Athena athlete will still compete in their respective five-year age group and be eligible for those awards. A separate set of awards will be awarded specifically to Clydesdale and Athena divisions.

Weigh-In Requirements:
- All Clydesdale and Athena athletes will be required to weigh-in on race morning in transition area prior to the race. Official weights will only be recorded on race morning.
- All athletes MUST weigh-in at or above the minimum weights, 220 pounds for Clydesdales and 165 pounds for Athenas. A USA Triathlon staff member or volunteer will be managing the scales in transition area.
- When weighing-in, athletes must only be wearing their racing kits. No shoes, hats, energy replacement, or other gear will be permitted on the scales.
- Any athlete wishing to compete in Clydesdale or Athena divisions will be INELIGIBLE if either of the following apply:
- You fail to meet the weight minimums on race morning
- You fail to weigh-in on race morning
- Once you have weighed-in and have met the weight minimum successfully, the USAT staff member will check your name off a list and you sign the list indicating you acknowledge the weight noted.
Course Completion Rule: USA Triathlon National Event Policy for Completion of Entire Course: Rule 3.4a Entire Course
The USA Triathlon policy governing decisions on the question of the completion of the entire course of any National Event shall be: “Athletes must complete the entire course as prescribed, including all segments in the correct segment order as prescribed by race management. Any failure to so complete the entire course shall be deemed to constitute an unfair time advantage, regardless of overall timing data for the individual athlete, and shall result in disqualification.”
Course Support
Gatorade Endurance formula is the Official Sports Beverage of USA Triathlon and will once again be available on the course for all athletes. Drug Testing
USA Triathlon takes clean sport and anti-doping very seriously. In accordance with U.S. Anti-Doping Agency (USADA) regulations, athletes may be drug tested at this event. Should drug testing occur, there are strict protocols that must be followed and will be coordinated by the on-site USADA representative as well as a USA Triathlon staff member. Information on USADA. USA Triathlon has teamed up with Playtri to provide event-specific merchandise at Legacy Triathlon! Merch will be sold at the race expo and can also be found online at USATstore.com.
Open Water Swim Competition
The open water swim competition will take place on Friday, July 17th. Athletes will have a choice of either a 1000m or 1500m swim, and the entry fee is $30 ($25 when purchased with the sprint triathlon). All athletes will receive a swim cap, timed event, t-shirt, and awards. An annual or one-day USAT membership is required for this event.
Parking Information
Friday parking will be available in the neighboring parking lots, Marina Green Parking Lot and Alamitos Beach Parking Lot, at the metered rates.
Saturday and Sunday parking will be available at the Long Beach Convention Center for $15 per day starting at 4:30 a.m. Upon entry, vehicle owners will pay the parking attendant onsite via cash or credit card. The Marina Green Parking Lot and Alamitos Beach Parking Lot will not be available for parking on Saturday and Sunday.
Rules Enforcement
At this USA Triathlon National Championship, rules violations will be enforced on-course. In other words, all penalties will be notified and served while the athlete is competing. Additionally, all athletes are required to complete all prescribed courses in their entirety.

Sportsmanship
USA Triathlon Sportsmanship Creed
As competitive athletes and members of the triathlon community, you know there is no better feeling than succeeding in your endeavors in sport. As a competitor at USA Triathlon events, you have a responsibility to demonstrate the highest standards of sportsmanship per the USA Triathlon Rulebook (Article III, Sections 3.3 and 3.4, Line b.), and as such, should always show respect for the sport, your fellow athletes, race staff, officials, volunteers and spectators. Each individual athlete shares this responsibility, which includes refraining from the use of improper language and conduct detrimental to the community at large. This rule will be strictly enforced and disrespectful language or conduct will not be tolerated.

Timing Chips
Timing chips must be returned after the event - they are NOT disposable. If you are participating in multiple races, you will receive a separate chip for each race. Your chip must be returned at the completion of your race at the finish line. If you forget to return your chip, you can return it by mail. Lost chips result in a $95 replacement fee. Chips will be pre-stuffed into individual race packets. For athletes doing multiple races, chips will display your bib number for each respective race.
Volunteers Needed!
Volunteers are critical to a safe a successful event! If you, a friend, a family member, or your organization can spare time to volunteer at one or multiple shifts, your time is greatly appreciated. There are flexible shifts available with numerous opportunities to participate, including supporting course aid stations, registration, finish line and more. All volunteers will be provided with a meal and shirt for their time.
