2023 Human Powered Health Triathlon Development Race Series
The purpose of NTDRs is to provide a draft-legal pathway to a USAT Elite License and a competitive domestic race series for Elite Development athletes.

Zone3 Youth and Junior Nationals (draft-legal) Qualification
The USA Triathlon Youth and Junior Development Series provides a pathway for athletes to qualify for the draft-legal Zone3 Youth and Junior Nationals. There will be 75 National Championship qualifying spots, per gender, available to Youth (ages 13-15) and Juniors (ages 16-19).
New in 2023: USA Triathlon Nationals combines the Age Group National Championships and Youth & Junior National Championships into a weekend-long celebration of triathlon! The largest amateur triathlon event in the United States, Nationals gives everyone from age 7 to 80+ a chance to compete for a national title.
Youth (ages 13-15) and Junior (ages 16-19) athletes qualify to compete at the 2023 Zone3 Youth and Junior Nationals (draft-legal) by finishing in the top-18 at ANY 2023 USAT Youth and Junior Development Series Race (excluding athletes already qualified and/or athletes representing other National Federations).
Only athletes representing USA are eligible for direct qualification to Nationals at a 2023 USA Triathlon Youth and Junior Development Series Race. Remaining unfilled spots on the start list may be filled by discretionary invitation - see the 2023 USAT Youth & Junior Development Series Guide for more information.

World Triathlon Medical Questionnaire
Junior athletes (ages 16-19) who wish to compete in a World Triathlon International Event (e.g. CAMTRI or ETU Junior Cups, CAMTRI Junior Championships, World Triathlon World Championships, World Triathlon Continental Cups, etc.) are required to undergo a Pre-Participation Exam (PPE) by their personal health care provider. The details of this are outlined in Rule 2.4 and Appendix Q of the World Triathlon Competition Rules. The PPE includes completion a World Triathlon-provided Medical Questionnaire reviewed by the athlete's doctor, an examination, and a 12 lead resting electrocardiogram (ECG) with results reviewed by the athlete's doctor. Upon completion of the PPE, the athlete will certify to USAT satisfactory completion using the form linked above. The athlete does not send his/her medical documentation to USAT. Athletes completing the PPE for the first time will use the Year 1 form with ECG. The following year, when the ECG is not required, athletes will submit the Year 2 form updating the date of their most recent physical exam. Certifications should be sent to juniors@usatriathlon.org.
