Youth And Juniors Take The Court For The 2020 North American Cup

Feb. 20, 2020, 7:13 p.m. (ET)

Craig Rot held a training camp this past week in preparation for the weekend's XPS Network North American Cup for Youth.

Youth and junior handball players have been working hard to improve their level of play as they prepare for a weekend of handball through the XPS Network North American Cup.

The tournament is between a combined U.S. youth and junior team, and teams from the Alberta Team Handball Federation and Club Handball Olympique de Drummondville, the most competitive club in the Quebec Federation.
Most of the Canadian Youth National Team that will be competing in the 2020 IHF Women's Youth (U18) World Championships in August is split evenly between players from Alberta and Drummondville.

This is the third edition of the tournament. The first two tournaments were with boys' teams and saw Alberta's teams winning both titles. 2020's tournament is the first to feature competition among girls' teams. Next year's tournament in 2021 will feature both boys and girls.

The competition will be free and open to the public, and will take place at:
Canlan Sportsplex
28156 W Northpointe Pkwy, Barrington, IL 60010
In preparation for the tournament, youth and junior handball coach Craig Rot held a joint training camp all week in order to improve the quality of elite play in United States. The teams competed in a round-robin friendly tournament at Northeastern Illinois University on Thursday, in which the three teams participated in 15-minute mini-games.
