USA Team Handball (USATH) is pleased to announce that the Men’s Junior National Team (MJNT) will compete at the International Handball Federation (IHF) Trophy Intercontinental Phase. This year’s IHF Trophy Intercontinental Tournament will be held April 10th-14th, 2019, in Pristina, Kosovo.
Organized by the IHF, the tournament provides the opportunity for developing nations to compete internationally through the sponsorship of the IHF. This tournament will be the first time the USATH Men’s Junior National Team will compete at the Intercontinental Phase, and the squad will face five fellow continental champions, Australia, Kosovo, Nigeria, Paraguay, and Taiwan. The winner of the tournament will secure a spot at the upcoming Junior’s Men World Championships in Vigo, Spain on July 15th-28th, 2019.
Comprised of Julio Sainz (MJNT Coach/Chair), Sarah Gascon (Athletes’ Rep), Robert Hedin (MNT Coach), Christian Latulippe (WNT Coach), and Craig Rot (MJNT Coach), the selection committee selected all fourteen athletes, and their alternates, from the existing MJNT athlete pool. All selected athletes have met all of the requirements obligated of them for selection.
