USA Team Handball (USATH) is pleased to announce that the Women’s National Team (WNT) will compete at the 2019 Pan American Games (PAG). The Women’s Team Handball Competition at the Pan American Games will be held from July 24th to July 30th, in Lima, Peru.
The winner of the tournament will secure a spot at the 2020 Summer Olympic Games that will be held in Tokyo, Japan in 2020. The second place will secure a spot to the Olympic Qualification Tournament.
Eight countries will participate in the 2019 Pan American Games. Team USA will compete in Group B with Argentina, Dominican Republic and Peru while Group A is composed by Brazil, Cuba, Puerto Rico and Canada.
The USA Team Handball selection committee comprised of Christian Latulippe (WNT Coach/Chair), David Thompson (Athletes’ Rep), Julio Sainz (WNT Assistant Coach), Cheng Fen He (WNT Assistant Coach) and Robert Hedin (MNT Head Coach), selected fourteen athletes, and their alternates, from the existing WNT athlete pool. All selected athletes have met all of the requirements for selection.
The 2019 Pan American Games Women’s Team Handball squad will be guided by Christian Latulippe as Head Coach, Olivier Orfèvres as the assistant coach, Kim Moncel as the Certified Athletic Trainer and David Gascon as the Team Leader.
