USA Team Handball (USATH) is pleased to announce that the Men’s National Team (MNT) will compete at the 2019 Pan American Games (PAG). The Men’s Team Handball Competition at the Pan American Games will be held from July 31st to August 5th, in Lima, Peru.
The winner of the tournament will secure a spot at the 2020 Summer Olympic Games that will be held in Tokyo, Japan in 2020. The second place will secure a spot to the Olympic Qualification Tournament.
8 countries will participate in this event. Team USA will be in Group A with Argentina, Chile, and Cuba, while Group B is composed by Brazil, Puerto Rico, Mexico, and Peru.
The USA Team Handball selection committee comprised of Robert Hedin, (MNT Head Coach/Chair), Christian Latulippe, (WNT Head Coach), David Thompson, (Athletes’ Rep), Julio Sainz, (Men’s JMNT Head Coach), Mark Ortega, (MNT Assistant Coach), selected fourteen athletes, and their alternates, from the existing Men’s National Team athlete pool. All selected athletes have met all of the requirements for selection.
The Pan American Games staff will be Robert Hedin as the Head Coach, Mark Ortega, Assistant Coach, Julio Sainz, Technical Personnel, Kim Moncel as the Certified Athletic Trainer, and Andreas Hertelt as the Team Leader.
