IHF NORCA Emerging Nations Tournament (USA Roster, Schedule and Streaming)

The US Men's National Team is in the Dominican Republic for the IHF North American & Caribbean (NORCA) Emerging Nations Tournament.  As the name implies, this tournament was adopted by the IHF to give additional competition opportunities for developing nations that haven't qualified for World Championship competitions.  The tournament is limited primarily to athletes that are 24 years of age or younger.  Each nation can have 3 exceptions to this age requirement.

USA Roster

 

 

The three age based exceptions for the U.S. are Gary Hines, Javier Coba and Eric Finch.  Hines is a long time veteran while Javier Coba will be marking his return to since last playing for Team USA in 2015.  The U.S. has 5 athletes (Hendrik Schultze, Ben Liberty, Patrick Hueter, Alex Binderis and Patrick Mulligan) who will be making their Sr Team debut at a major tournament.  The U.S. roster also features 11 athletes affiliated with European clubs (7 in Germany and 1 each in Sweden, Spain, France and Israel).

Tourney Format

There are 12 nations participating in this tournament and they were drawn into 4 groups of 3 nations each.  

Group A: Canada, Puerto Rico, Dominca
Group B: Mexico, Martinique, Trinidad & Tobago
Group C: Dominican Republic, Haiti, St Kitts & Nevis
Group D: USA, Cuba, Barbados

Each group will play a round robin and the top two teams from each group will advance to the quarterfinals. The 3rd place teams in each group will play a round robin to determine places 9-12.
