IHF Trophy Continental Phase Competition Selection Announcement

Selection Announcement FOR ALL Interested ATHLETES

Any Junior Team Handball athletes born in 1998 or later with a USA Passport, that did not participate in the previous round of the IHF tournament and seeks evaluation for possible participation with the USA Men's Junior National Team, please send an email to Julio Sainz at no later than Monday November 5th, 2018.

 Selection Announcement for COACHES and STAFF 

 The Selection Committee will evaluate and interview the following for the IHF Continental Phase Tournament:

  • Head Coach,
  • Assistant Coach
  • Medical Staff
  • Team Leader

The current selection is only for the Continental Phase of the IHF Trophy Tournament.  Should the team advance; further evaluation and selection will take place for the World Phase of the IHF Trophy Tournament.

The members of the selection committee are:

5. Michael Tilton

 Please note that there is a very SHORT TIME frame for ATHLETE SELECTION and ALL STAFF POSITIONS.

ALL COACHING CANDIDATES must meet the following requirements:

1.  Previously served as a head coach or assistant coach with the USA Senior, Junior or Youth National Teams

2. Thorough working knowledge of the Junior National Team Athlete Pool

3. Completed NCSI background check

4. Completed USOC SafeSport course certificate

The USA Junior National team will use their dominating performance of the Inter-Continental IHF Cup to launch them in to the IHF Continental Phase of the developing Nations World Tournament. For the last 8 years, the IHF has used this developing nations tournament to get the world more involved in handball. There are as many as 100 nations participating in the different stages of the tournament. The winner if this phase will qualify for the World Phase of the IHF Trophy Tournament. For the first time ever, the winner of the World Phase will qualify for IHF Junior World Championships.

For the second time the tournament will be hosted at the Team Handball Academy in West Dundee, IL.

All interested coaching candidates please submit resume, coaching certifications, NCSI background check certification and USOC SafeSport course certification to the Selection Committee Chairman Dr. Michael Hinson ( no later than Friday November 2nd by 5:00pm EST.
