2018 Goalkeeper Development Camp with Vanja Radic in West Dundee, IL

Aug. 06, 2018, 9:45 a.m. (ET)

In partnership with USA Team Handball, LifeZone Team Handball Academy & Windy City Team Handball is launching a Goalkeeper Development Program (GDP) that has three major points of emphasis; first, develop an entire of pool of goalkeepers ages 12 to adult at club, regional and national levels; second, improve the quality and quantity of goalkeeper coaches in the United States at the club, regional and national levels; and, third, identify dual citizens in Europe who play the position and can contribute to our men’s and women’s cadet, youth, junior and senior national teams.

The first initiative of the GDP will be our inaugural 2018 Goalkeeper Development Camp, which runs September 22-23 at LifeZone Team Handball Academy’s main facility in West Dundee, IL. For this camp, we are honored to welcome Vanja Radic, one of the leading goalkeeper coaches in the world.

Coach Radic played handball professionally for more than 10 years in Bosnia & Herzegovina and Croatia. Since 2011, Radic has been a professional goalkeeper coach, and is currently coaching and lecturing about handball goalkeeping in 12 different countries, including Finland, Denmark, Norway, Sweden, Iceland, Portugal, Spain, Hungary, Serbia, Bosnia and Herzegovina, Germany and Croatia.

In addition to a busy lecturing schedule, Coach Radic is the Goalkeeper Coach for the Finnish women’s senior national team, since 2016, and is the Goalkeeper Coach for the Finnish youth and junior national teams, both male and female selections (U15, U16, U18 and U20), since 2015.

The camp consists of two intensive practical sessions each day designed for specific age groups (12 to 15 and 16+) and will be accompanied by theoretical sessions to support the curriculum. This is the first time such a camp has been offered in the United States.

All goalkeepers 12 and older are invited to join us for the weekend. Registration can be completed through the Windy City Team Handball link provided below:

Pricing is $250 per player and includes goalkeeper jersey, video and evaluation, and post-camp development throughout the season. Lunch will be provided each day.

The partner hotel for this event will be the Quality Inn in Elgin, IL, and information will be provided upon registration.  Transportation from the hotel to the facility will be the player’s responsibility, although we will help coordinate as circumstances allow.

Goalkeepers interested in participating, and coaches inquiring about supplemental development during the season are encouraged to reach out to Craig Rot, Director of LifeZone Team Handball Academy/Windy City Team Handball for potential opportunities. Coach Rot’s email is craig@usateamhandball.org.
