 2021-2024 Athlete Advisory Council Elected

(Nov 30, 2020) - The athlete representatives for the 2021-2024 USOPC and USATKD Athlete Advisory Councils have been named following nominations and subsequent elections.

The named athletes below have been elected to the following positions:

 

US OLYMPIC & PARALYMPIC COMMITTEE (USOPC) ATHLETE ADVISORY COUNCIL

Jaysen Ishida (Representative)

Cheyenne Lewis (Alternate)

 

(Vote totals: Jaysen Ishida 57%, Cheyenne Lewis 43%)

 

Both Jaysen and Cheyenne are automatically named to the USATKD Athlete Advisory Council and take two of the seven sparring spots on that body.

*As only the required minimum number of eligible athletes were nominated the 2021-24 members were elected without a vote.

 

Outgoing AAC Chairperson Barbara Brand said: “Congratulations and welcome to the newly elected US Olympic Paralympic Athlete Advisory Council representatives and USA Taekwondo Athlete Advisory Council representatives! They will have the wonderful opportunity to serve Taekwondo athletes through representation on several key USOPC and USAT committees. In addition, they will be in position to ensure fair and equal playing fields in USAT events and advise USAT on athlete matters. As the new AAC representatives look forward to coming on board, the outgoing AAC wishes them the best of luck in every endeavor.”

 

The newly elected AAC will take office on January 1, 2021.
