(March 28, 2019) -- The rankings deadline for selection to the Cadet and Junior Pan American Championships teams will be the weekend of May 4-5, 2019, to ensure fairness and inclusion for all ‘home state’ championships. You have until the end of that weekend to secure the #1 spot in your division, and we wish all fighters the very best of luck – the competition has been intense, and it has been great to see such incredible enthusiasm for taekwondo competition spark back into life again.

Additionally, World Taekwondo has recently confirmed that the 2019 Cadet World Championships will take place in Uzbekistan in August. Selection for this team will conclude immediately after the cadet competition in the U.S. National Taekwondo Championships to be held in Minnesota in late June.

Athletes in contention for making the Cadet World Championship team will be contacted by USA Taekwondo prior to the National Championships to confirm their intent to take the spot if they are ranked #1 following the competition in Minnesota. This is to enable USA Taekwondo staff to immediately begin the process to acquire the necessary visas required to enter Uzbekistan, and to make other arrangements such as hotel bookings and event registration. If an athlete opts not to take the National Team spot but is ranked #1 after Nationals then the place will go to the next highest ranked athlete.

Detailed selection procedures for the recently announced Cadet World Championships will be posted shortly.
