The Search for State Head Coaches Begins NOW

March 06, 2019, 9:38 a.m. (ET)

Following the recent appointment of the new Regional Head Coaches, USA Taekwondo is today beginning the search for State Coaches to work with the Regional and National Coaches in developing the U.S. athlete pipeline through high quality training opportunities and new, quality competitions, in preparation to dominate in ’28 at the Los Angeles Olympic Games.

Regional Head Coaches, in conjunction with the National Office and National level coaches (including the National Coaching Directors and National Poomsae and Para coaches) invite applications for each state, and will review the candidates before making final decisions on the best person to help in each area. We are inviting State Presidents and the Regional Head Coaches to identify and encourage coaches in their area to apply, to ensure we have plenty of high quality coaches.

High Performance Director May Spence said: “A major focus for the organization is to implement structure where before there was arguably chaos – stepped progression through a sensible development program is the best way to ensure athletes grow in both experience and ability at a common-sense rate, and we believe that with our many great U.S. coaches starting to work together more progress will be swrift. We now have representative opportunities for both coaches and athletes at state, regional and national level, and need to all adopt the mindset that we are no longer a ‘National team or bust’ style organization – we will support and nurture at all levels, with the ultimate goal being multiple athletes in every weight division who are medal capable.

Interested applicants should complete the online form below, no later than end of day on Tuesday March 19. Good luck to all!
