USA Taekwondo Director of High Performance May Spence said: “The new selection process has delivered a really strong U.S. team, and also perhaps the youngest U.S. Senior National Team ever in terms of average age, which also makes us very excited for the future. Both the athletes and the coaching staff are a strong mix of youth and experience, very well representing the organizations current dual focus and the drive to create true depth both on the mat and in the chair. The experience gained in Manchester will be vital, particularly heading into the 2020 Olympic Games, but also beyond that to 2024 in Paris. After such a fiercely contested race it’s time for all parts of the country to come together for the benefit of Team USA!

The team will head to a training camp led by Paul Green and Gareth Brown in early May in preparation for the tournament, and we would like to say a big congratulations to all of our athletes who competed so hard for these coveted Team USA places.
