Team USA Earns 12 Medals At Pan Am Senior Kyorugi Championships

SPOKANE, Wash. (July 13, 2018) -- Team USA athletes won 12 medals on Thursday at the 2018 Pan Am Senior Kyorugi Championships held in Spokane, Wash. The team combined to take home three gold medals, four silver medals and five bronze medals.

Winning gold were Thomas Rahimi in male lightweight (-74kg), Paige McPherson in female welterweight (-67kg) and Austin Tran (pictured at right) in male finweight (-54kg). Tran also was awarded Best Male Athlete for the tournament.

Silver medalists for Team USA were Alejandro Chang in male bantamweight (-63kg), Jaysen Ishida in male lightweight (-74kg), Stephen Lambdin in male heavyweight (+87kg) and Amanda Bluford in female lightweight (-62kg).

Winning bronze medals were Mauricio Newman, Jr. in male welterweight (-80kg), Ara White in female lightweight (-62kg), Madelynn Gorman-Shore in female middleweight (-73kg), Aziza Chambers in female bantamweight (-53kg) and Devon Lewis in female featherweight (-57kg).

Overall, Team USA captured second place in the male team division and fourth in the female team.
