National Rankings System Review by Membership

Dec. 20, 2017, 10:42 a.m. (ET)

USA Taekwondo is launching an exciting new project in 2018 - a new National Points Ranking System in which all members who participate in sanctioned events will be ranked according to performance.

This will greatly assist USA Taekwondo in identifying and supporting talent much earlier than currently, and also provide added value to all of our members who will be able to monitor and celebrate their progress at local, state and national level.

We believe that, once established, we will have a much stronger pipeline of both athletes and coaches, far greater medal potential, and have many more opportunities for athletes to compete in, and improve through, quality tournaments.

Before we finalize the system we wanted to give all of our members a chance to review the proposal, suggest changes, make comments and have time to become comfortable with it before it goes into effect at the 2018 U.S. Open in Las Vegas.

As this will directly affect qualification for our National teams in all age groups it is important to us that you all have the chance to have your say.

To download the proposal document click here. (Please note this document relates to sparring only, we will post the poomsae version of the system in early 2018).

If you have any suggestions or comments that you wish to make please do so using this form before January 6, 2018 - commenting through this site will ensure that USA Taekwondo staff receive all feedback in one place and will ensure no valuable comments are missed.

We thank you for taking the time to consider this proposal and provide feedback.
