New SafeSport Training Course now required for Referees, Coaches, Instructors & Club Owners

Attention all referees, coaches, instructors and club owners:
Beginning immediately, all USA Taekwondo referees, instructors/club owners and coaches will be required to complete the FREE updated training course supplied by the U.S. Center for SafeSport. The new training course consists of three 30-minute videos on the following topics:
  1. Mandatory Reporting
  2. Sexual Misconduct Awareness Education
  3. Emotional and Physical Misconduct
All three courses will need to be completed before these membership groups will be allowed to participate in USA Taekwondo activities.
For referees, course completion is required prior to officiating any USA Taekwondo-sanctioned events (including the 2018 U.S. Open and/or state championships) or attending any referee seminar.
For instructors/club owners, course completion is required prior to renewing club memberships.
Likewise, individuals with Coach memberships will also be required to complete the SafeSport training every two years in order to coach or attend coach seminars.
Moving forward, SafeSport training must be completed every two (2) years. Therefore, anyone who took the SafeSport course in 2015 or earlier will need to complete the new courses.
We urge everyone take the new training as soon as possible, even if it has been less than two years since you completed the old version, although your account will not be placed on hold until two years have passed.

Also, please note that this training is available FREE to everyone, not just those in the categories listed above and we recommend that everyone takes the courses – especially athletes and parents of athletes – in order to be fully informed on how to spot the signs of abuse, and how to react appropriately and effectively if you suspect misconduct.
