US Open Day 3 Results

Jan. 23, 2015, 6:32 p.m. (ET)

The 2015 US Open kicked things up another gear today after an already great start, with the first of two days of world class G2 competition.

The highs and lows were incredible, with USA Taekwondo athletes doing the country proud.

Things started with disappointment forthe immensely likeable Stephen Lambdin who was unlucky to lose to Abdoula Issoufou Alfaga of Nigeria, who finished by winning the division.

Steven Lopez performed well through the rounds until losing a hard fought semi final match to Samsun of Great Britain, while Kelsey Junious claimed bronze in the women's -46kg category.

Cheyenne Lewis bagged a gold for the women, claiming her third US Open title in a row, and in the men's -74kg Team USA really shone, claiming gold through TJ Curry, silver for Jaysen Ishida and bronze for Thomas Rahimi in a stunning clean sweep.
