For the first time since 2018, the United States will host the ITTF Para US Open, a competition that will count for the international world ranking. The event is part of the Qualification Period for the Paris 2024 Paralympic Games, so it is expected that some of the best international contenders will take part in this tournament. 2023 ITTF Para US Open will be held
As part of the event, US Para Table Tennis fans will see the homecoming of the reigning Paralympic champion in class 6, Ian Seidenfeld, as well as Tokyo Bronze Medalist, Jenson Van Emburgh who is competing in class 3, as well as former Gold Medalist and star-player, Tahl Leibovitz who is looking to win gold in class 9.
ITTF Para US Open means a lot for Jenson Van Emburgh, who now has the chance to shine in his home-state of Texas, where he relocated three years ago. “Competing in Texas at the Para US Open is very special for me; I will do my best to make sure that the gold medal will remain in Texas,” said Van Emburgh
For TEAM USA, this one of the last major international tournament before the 2023 Para PanAmerican Games, an event in which our Para Team is hoping to bring home a record-breaking number of medals for table tennis.
The ITTF Para US Open is set to kick off with the singles events in the morning of Monday, July 3, when the groups stage matches will be played. Finals of the Singles competition will be played on morning of Tuesday, July 4, while doubles competition will begin on Tuesday afternoon (July 4) and will end on Wednesday (July 5).
For all people interested in watching this great event, the event will be available through livestream, but, for those attending the 2023 US National Table Tennis Championships in Fort Worth, make sure that you don’t miss the chance to see our US star athletes in action.
